About John Meadows

I started doing photography as a teenager in the 1970’s, and keep coming back to it.

Morning Light at an Old Location

I’ve shot inside the Eaton Centre on a regular basis, and it can be hard to find new angles/looks. When I was there last Saturday to shoot the new walkway again the angled morning light gave the interior of the mall an interesting look.

Take 2

Yesterday I decided to go the Eaton Centre for another crack at the new walkway over Queen Street. I wanted to try the square format my Hasselblad (and my treasured 50mm/f4 Distagon lens)

Ice Formations

The pattern of the waves made for some interesting ice formations by the water at the Scarborough bluffs. The spray would come up through the holes every time the wave hit the shore.

Almost Into the Sun

My 50mm/f4 Zeiss Distagon lens is one of my favourites, and it continues to surprise me.¬† I wasn’t quite pointing at the sun in the image from the Scarborough Bluff’s on New Year’s Day, but it was certainly in the sun’s direction. Flare is not an issue at all. (Of course having a lens hood on the lens helps).

First Shoot of 2018

For the last few years I have a tradition where I make a point of going out to shoot film on January 1st, regardless of the weather or how I feel. It means it’s one more year where I can say I shot film, regardless of whatever else happens.

Yesterday morning was bright and sunny (but rather chilly). A good day to shoot at Bluffer’s Park in Scarborough, Ontario with my good friend Bill Smith.
